COVID-19 and Our 10 Rules!

Updated: Oct 5, 2020

While this pandemic has brought on some trying times with maintaining good health and social distancing, staying healthy can often be discouraging. While we know that life might not be the usual norm, we are here to support you at AshFIT in anyway we can possibly do so.

We want to give you our 10 guidelines to ensure being active and maintaining your mental harmony, while social distancing.

  1. Always wash your hands and keep handsantizer with you! Make sure that the handsantizer kills 99% germs. Check to make sure you are not using hand santizer on this list: https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-updates-hand-sanitizers-methanol

  2. Stay Physically active! Science shows that even getting up from your desk for a 10 minute walk improves your attitude and decreases depression.

  3. Create a simple schedule so that you can stay in routine. Do not overload yourself just because you are spending more time at home. Home is still for relaxation. Remember?

  4. Engage in Intellectual Activities or Conversations. Sharpen up on your math skills or read a book. To maintain is to stay ahead!

  5. Start to take at least 10 minutes out of your early day to be still and meditate. Here is a list of some good meditation resources: https://www.psycom.net/mental-health-wellbeing/meditation-resources

  6. And while we are on the topic of meditating, with so many things going on in the world, please take a minute to just simply BREATHE.

7. Spend time with your loved ones via technologies like Zoom. If you are having trouble showing your great aunt or uncle how to use Zoom, here is a step by step video guide to help them out. https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206618765-Zoom-video-tutorials Even if you do not have Zoom, a phone conversation or snail mail shows just as much love and gratitude.

8. Learn a new hobby, preferably one that invloves healthier eating like cooking leaner cuisines or some sort of fitness like a new activity or sport. This does not mean that you need to have mastered your new hobby by the end of Quaratine, it just shows that you can still find new ways of making you happy!

9. Limit your exposure to social media outlets and news outlets. While it is always good to stay informed, a good habit you can practice is setting a 2-3 Hour timer on your phone, and every time it goes off, you have to hold yourself accountable to a quick exercise.

10. Adopt a healthier diet to maintain your physical and mental health. You might have not considered but your your financial health is important as well, as I am sure those take out orders are starting to add up!
